For tourists and visitors, Cattolica is at its best from spring right through to October, reaching a peak in the summer when the hospitality industry is working at full capacity. However, there are numerous hotels and restaurants open all year round.
Â
This is an elegant town; a fact that can be seen by taking a walk along its tree-lined streets, with shops and welcoming bars and restaurants where you can stop for an aperitif or an ice-cream, or take a rest in one of the many recently upgraded squares, adorned with fountains. The city is of medium size, modern, and exceptionally clean.Â
Â
We went there during the final week of April 2022. This happened to be the week of the flower festival, so the central pedestrian area was lined with garden vendors and flower displays. This is before the high season and most of the hotels have yet to open and the beach lido is still being scrubbed and painted for the summer arrivals.Â
Â
My understanding is that this area is very very popular with EU tourists, particularly Germans. The beach lido runs for at least a couple of kilometers, completely lined with beach clubs. Many have small pools for kids and almost all have playground equipment and of course, a restaurant.Â
Â
Seafood is the common denominator at restaurants and range from quick takeaway to elegant hotel restaurants. The pedestrian area is lined with typical beach town shopping and I’m sure the July and August season will have lots of outdoor entertainment.Â
Â
There are a number of places that can be reached using Cattolica as a hub. Among those are Gardara Castle, San Marino, and Frasassi Caves and Rimini.Â
