And for good reason. Abruzzo is thirty six percent National Park. People often say – Thirty minutes to beach. One hour to the mountains. And for much of the region this is true. The park reserves host 75% of Europes animal species. The Abruzzo flag reflects this diversity. The top is white for the snow covered mountains, the middle is green for the endless woodlands and the bottom is blue for the pristine Adriatic waters. You will find an amazing variety of trips in this region, and because of the size, most of them can be done in day. Rome had many settlements in the region as it was the main trading route to the Balkans and Middle East. Then the Medieval ages and grand churches and monasteries are placed seemingly on every hilltop and in some cases are carved into steep cliffs. You wind your way up serpentine roads to scenic hill towns. If all roads led to Rome, it seems that many of them started in Abruzzo.
Here are our most recent guides. We have put them into a format that is more toward showing you how to get there, what to expect and links to official sites so that you can plan your own memories.
